Cultural & Environmental Atlas

Atlas Cover Page

This narrative, visual adventure explores the layered history of the FBR from the bedrock beneath our feet, through the evolution of the biotic landscape, to the historic progression of human settlements and their current socio-economic manifestation. Geographic data is used to interpret the underlying features of the FBR, its resulting natural and human landscape through rich maps and text.

The cultural and environmental atlas and its related database will provide the baseline information for current and future projects aimed at sustaining ecosystem integrity in the region. In addition, the atlas and related documents provides the basis for future interpretation, outreach, education products and activities; as well as the basis for monitoring and scientific research projects.

The print version of FBR Cultural & Environmental Atlas will be available in 2011, followed by an online version. As an effective platform for understanding the landscape of the Fundy Biosphere Reserve, the Atlas will enable the ongoing work of building future bioregional narratives.
