The Forks
Coordinates: (Trail head): Lat 45.657487°N, Long 65.014776°W

Description: An arduously descending trail, through mostly broad-leaved forest, leads to the confluence of the Broad River and the Forty-five River where the Upper Salmon River is formed.
Nature Notes: The Forks Trail directs the hiker to an important transition in the Upper Salmon River watershed. At this point, the river’s character changes yet again, as it is still losing elevation, but rather less abruptly than the section between Moosehorn and the Forks; the gorges widen and it gets deeper here, descending more gradually towards sea level from this point onwards.
